Originally written in English as a theatre script for a performance at the café Hoffman, in Utrecht, One spoke, one smoked, one died was the artistic object of Portela’s master thesis in Scenography at the Utrecht faculty of theatre/Central St Martins’ College of Art, a reflection on virtual spaces and their relationship with language in a performative context.
